Sound System Rental & Reservations

The Boulder Arts Council (BArtC) maintains a professional inventory of sound equipment to serve Boulder residents and organizations. While our primary focus is on local support, we also provide rentals to individuals and organizations in neighboring communities.

Rental Options

We offer two primary configurations to meet your event needs. All rentals must be managed by a BArtC-approved technician.

Best For:

Solo performers, voice amplification, simple presentations.

Live bands, complex stage setups, large events.

Equipment Included:

2 Speakers w/ stands, 1 Microphone, necessary cables.

16-channel mixer, 11 mics, mains, 4 monitors, subwoofer, and all hardware.

Standard Rate:

$150 / day

$350 / day

Discounted Rate*

$75 / day

$175 / day

*Discounted rates apply to 84716 residents, organizations, and businesses. Rental fees may be waived for free public community events in Boulder sponsored by a non-profit or town organization (community-oriented, not private events), subject to prior board approval.

Approved Sound Persons (ASP)

To ensure the longevity and proper use of our equipment, all rentals must be checked out, operated, and returned by an Approved Sound Person (ASP).

Responsibility: The ASP is the only individual authorized to handle equipment checkout/in and operation.
Hiring: Renters are responsible for contacting and hiring an ASP from our approved list.
Fees: ASPs set their own rates, typically $25/hr for the Basic System and $50/hr for the Full System. These fees are separate arrangements between the renter and the ASP and are not handled through the Boulder Arts Council.

Basic System: Cheryl Cox, Dean Petaja, Elizabeth Julian, Jabe Beal, Jeanne Zeigler, Jordan Badger, Patrick Briggs, Richard Woodbury, Tina Karlsson.
Full System: Jordan Badger, Patrick Briggs, Richard Woodbury.

Policies & Terms

Payment & Rates: All rental rates are daily. Ideally, fees are paid in full at the time of reservation or within the week, though they must be paid in full (cash, check, or credit card) at a minimum 72 hours prior to pick-up.
Deposit: A refundable deposit equal to the standard rate, non-discounted daily rental rate, is required for all reservations to cover potential damage or loss of equipment.
Liability: The ASP assumes full responsibility for the equipment under their reservation. The equipment must be in the ASP's direct care for the entire rental duration, and secured/locked when not in use. Equipment must be protected from theft and weather at all times, and the renter assumes full responsibility for the cost of replacing any damaged or lost items.
Scheduling: Pick-up and returns must be coordinated between the BArtC, the renter, and the hired ASP.
